Joshua Ryan

Josh began playing Piano at age 6 whilst living in Devon, Southwest England. His next door neighbor was coincidentally a retired Guildhall piano teacher. After teaching Josh piano for the better part of 7 years, his family moved to New Zealand where he continued lessons with renowned professors Rae de Lisle and Terence Dennis.

After graduating with honors from Otago University, Josh accepted an internship position with a post production sound and music studio based in Santa Monica in Los Angeles called human. After spending one year here learning the ropes of advertising composing, Josh moved onto trailer music production with mentors Grayson Sanders and Jerry Yeh at their (at the time) small company and state-of-the art recording studio, Safari Riot. Josh saw another year here come and go learning production techniques and composition techniques from both of Safari Riot’s skilled founders.

Once finished at Safari Riot, Josh went on to pursue his own personal projects scoring several short films and putting together a trailer music library before starting a trailer music duo SAYSH with his good friend and mentor Evan Duffy.

Josh has since gone on to pursue many different projects often not in film at all. Collaborating with artists, dancers, poets, photographers and directors exploring as many mediums as he can.
