THE SCUMFROG + JOSHUA RYAN

Josh met Jesse Houk (aka. The Scumfrog) during the Corona Virus outbreak in the summer of 2020. Jesse describes himself as a ‘DJ’ but he is much, much more. With an extremely trained ear, Jesse’s DJ sets are legendary from performing at Burning Man to clubs and huge spaces from New York to Mexico. An audiophile and producer, The Scumfrog is known for his collaborations with some of the biggest artists in the industry from Cindy Lauper to George Michael and Sting.

Josh and Jesse started to work together as a necessity for needing to produce music whilst stuck in Queenstown, New Zealand due to Covid restrictions. They produced the track South Island incorporating live piano and production into a 9 minute track. Tete Béro features his ethereal vocal mid-way through the track tying the piece together in this fantastic collaboration of genres.

SOLO MIO + ANDERSON ROCIO

Anderson Rocio and a popular operatic trio based in New Zealand by the name of Solo Mio asked if I would compose and arrange the original song Homeland for full orchestra and forty piece choir last minute for the concert performance in front of 7000 people. Three days later and no sleep. The concert was a great success. Being the only concert in the world with an audience taking place in 2021.

In January of 2021, while most of the world was shut down due to the Corona Virus pandemic, New Zealand was having music tours as the country was completely virus free. This allowed for much movement and careful consideration for performers and musical acts. One such act was the Opera trio Solo Mio. Consisting of the incredibly gifted Pati brothers; Pene and Amitai and singing sensation Moses McKay. Together they partnered with artist and songwriter Anderson Rocio and toured New Zealand giving live concerts in 7 cities and 9 locations. The final concert was held at Spark Arena, a 15000 seat arena performance hall which played host to the three opera singers, Anderson Rocio, a full orchestra and choir.

SAYSH was a creative collaborative outlet for film composers and producers Evan Duffy and Joshua Ryan. Founded together in 2018, Both Evan and Josh brought their own unique flavor to SAYSH, drawing from years of experience composing for Hollywood films, television shows, advertising campaigns, and producing for songwriters/artists. With a focus on blending their love of film music and other popular musical genres, SAYSH aims to explore a wide variety of musical possibilities in the songwriting and scoring spheres.

Josh left the group in early 2023 to pursue other mediums of composing whilst Evan still maintains regular releases of impressively produced music, occasionally collaborating with other artists, pushing the boundaries of modern music production.

The Rose That Bloomed in the Night (EP)

Josh began working unofficialy on a project with best-selling poet and author Allie Michelle after meeting her in Los Angeles in 2021. After reading her most recent book at the time The Rose That Blooms in the Night, Josh composed three instrumental pieces of music matching three poems that he found especially unique when completing the book. In the time since Josh and Allie have become close friends resulting in him scoring the release and public reading of her first novel Legends of Lemuria. Upon the upcoming release of her new collection of poems, Josh and Allie are officially working on an EP release of five instrumental tracks inspired by Allie’s new writings.
